QUARTERLY MEN’S SUPPER
We gather at 6:00 on the last Tuesday of each quarter for our B.Y.O.S. (Bring Your Own Steak) Suppers. Just bring something to grill and we'll provide the sides! The focus is simply on getting men together to talk and have a good meal, and to hear some brief updates on what’s going on with Men’s Ministries at Prince George. Meets in the Parish Hall (corner of Highmarket St. and Screven St. in Georgetown). Important note: the next BYOS will meet on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
WEEKLY GROUPS WHICH READ, DISCUSS, LEARN (and enjoy some food and fellowship)
We have two morning opportunities each week to get together for breakfast and study God's Word:
*Tuesday morning 7:00 at the Parish Hall (corner of Highmarket and Screven): Men's Bible Study meets for breakfast and to discuss one chapter of The Bible each week. Meets during Sept-May.
*Wednesday morning 7:00 at Thomas' Cafe (703 Front St.): Men's Book Study meets for breakfast and to discuss the book currently being read. Meets year-round.
*Important Note: these two weekly groups do not meet in the summer and may take a week off during holidays. Call the Church Office at 843-546-4358 to inquire if the group is planning to meet on a certain date if you want to confirm before making plans to attend.
CHRISTIAN SERVICE TO OTHERS
The Hammerheads group helps the church with handyman repairs as well helping those in our community by building handicap ramps and doing various projects. This group hopes to complete about 1 project each month in 2017, and volunteers are needed to make this a reality. Build dates are communicated by e-mail, and you can volunteer for the build dates that work for your schedule. See more info by clicking on the link to the right of this page.
In recent years we have lined up a Fishing Day for Tara Hall in which men from our church help the boys at Tara Hall enjoy some fresh water fishing and some fellowship. The date for this will be announced closer soon (usually in the summer).
GOING DEEPER IN YOUR FAITH
A wonderful new opportunity here at Prince George is M², which provides a small group of men the opportunity to read the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). This is an amazing way to experience the living word of God. For more details, please contact the church office at 843-546-4358 and ask for Ramsey Gilchrist to get more information.
Opportunities offered by the Diocese of South Carolina
The Diocese of South Carolina holds an annual Christian Men’s Conference at Camp St. Christopher (on Seabrook Island) in February of each year. The speakers, food, fellowship, and worship are all outstanding. Many men look forward to this event and attend every year, and approximately 200 men usually attend from across the diocese. Feel free to ask Lee Jones here at Prince George for more information. For 2019, the dates will be Feb. 22-24, 2018). For more informaiton, please go to http://www.diosc.com/sys/mens-ministry.
Bishop Mark Lawrence holds an annual Men’s Summit on a late September Saturday morning from 9:00 to 12:00 at St. Paul’s Church in Summerville. That has been scheduled for Sept. 29, 2018. This is a great event for the men in our diocese and is and very worthwhile. Please be on the lookout for more details.
UNIQUE EVENTS EACH YEAR
Our Men's Ministry organizes volunteers for two annual fundraising events with the proceeds going to outreach programs in the Community such as the Tara Hall Home for Boys and the local Habitat for Humanity.
In the first half of each year:
The Oyster Roast and Pig Pickin' coincides with The Plantation Tours held each spring. More details on this soon.
In the last half of each year:
The Inshore Fishing Tournament is an annual fund raiser held each fall. Additional information can be found at http://pgwinshore.com/ concerning this event.
We also have two annual events just for fellowship:
Don’t miss out on our Skeet Shoot event which is held each year in August. Come out and enjoy a sporting clay shoot, pileau dinner, refreshments, and a short program. For 2018, this event has been scheduled for Wed., Aug. 22nd. This usually starts about 5:00 and finishes around 8:30, and you will be sure to have a great time. More details to follow closer to the event.
We usually put together a team of men who can cook for the Sunday after Christmas Breakfast, as they prepare and serve a hearty breakfast to our church members before worship.
